Rosewood Family Scholarship Fund

FINANCIAL AID SOURCES FOR FLORIDA STUDENTS FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

The Rosewood Scholarship is a need-based scholarship that provides assistance for up to 50 minority students to attend a state university. Direct descendants of African-American Rosewood families affected by the incidents of January 1923 receive priority for awards.

A NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIP FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS WHO ARE DESCENDANTS OF AFFECTED AFRICAN AMERICAN ROSEWOOD FAMILIES and who are enrolled full time in eligible programs at state universities, public community colleges, or public postsecondary vocational technical schools in Florida.

Other minority undergraduate students will be considered for awards if funds remain available after awarding Rosewood descendants. The annual award amount is the amount of tuition and fees for up to 30 credit hours not to exceed $4,000. A maximum of 25 awards are available each year. If funds are insufficient to make full awards to 25 eligible applicants, awards will be prorated.

Applications are available from the Office of Student Financial Assistance. Also, the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA) is required. Deadline 1: Applications must be postmarked to this office by April 1. Deadline 2: Florida residents must submit the FAFSA in time to be processed by May 15. Non-Florida residents must submit the FAFSA in time to receive the "Student Aid Report" (SAR) and submit it to the Office of Student Financial Assistant postmarked by May 15.
